Eileen Wasow taught at the Bank Street School for Children in New York City, for over fifteen years, where she worked with three and four year olds and served as a Master Teacher for graduate students in the Bank Street College of Education. In her final five years at Bank Street, she served as the Associate Dean in the Division of Continuing Education, where she focused on teacher training and professional development. After moving to Washington, DC, she worked at CentroNía, a community education center, which serves bilingual and multicultural families. She retired in 2010 and now splits her time between the District of Columbia and Michoacán, Mexico. Eileen and her husband, Bernard, who collect the sculptures that form the backdrop for this story, have two adult children---Omar and Althea.
